Beckenham Business Day a success all round!

Last month’s Beckenham Business Day (on 27 September), was a resounding success with over 100 businesses attending the day of networking, advice sessions and practical talks on business topics.

The third Beckenham Business Day, organised by Beckenham Business Association (BBA) and supported by Beckenham Together BID, was held at the Odeon Cinema on Beckenham High Street.

It was opened by the Mayor of Bromley Cllr Kim Botting and her consort Cllr Mike Botting.

BBA Chair Jackie Groundsell ran her ever popular speed networking sessions, and lifestyle motivator, speaker and author Mathy Lisika-Misende, was MC for the day.

Speaker topics included Sources of Alternative Funding; The Beginners’ Guide to Local SEO; BE Irresistible: The Three Keys to achieving success in today’s competitive marketplace; Your Digital World and Sales for Millennials and Beyond.

A raffle on the day, with prizes donated by local businesses, raised £180.75 for MINDCare Dementia Support, Beckenham, part of Bromley & Lewisham Mind, a charity that provides support to help adults with dementia stay in their homes and local communities.

The event was sponsored by Beckenham Odeon Cinema, News Shopper, Beckenham Business Association, AAA Minicabs, Waitrose, Tangent Office Supplies, Burger & Bubbles, MasterLight Photography, Peter Schneiter Photography and was supported by BBA member businesses 1230 The Women’s Company, Bailey Ahmad, Gradfinale Yearbooks, Jane Rogers PR and Carol Ann Walters PR.

Jackie said she was overwhelmed with the positive feedback the BBA received from the businesses that attended, saying: “Not only was the atmosphere electric from the moment the doors opened but the day was filled with compliments from people wanting to know when the next event was going to be held.

“We’re proud to know that we’re meeting the needs of Beckenham businesses as the success of the day shows.”

Plans are already underway for next year’s Beckenham Business Day, scheduled for the last Thursday of September, with further details to be released soon.

A BBA Christmas event for members and guests will be held on Thursday 6 December.

Bromley Corporate Social Responsibility Expo

The 2nd annual Bromley Corporate Social Responsibility Expo will be held on Wednesday 18 March at the Great Hall, Civic Centre, Bromley from 5.30pm.

The drop-in event aims to help build relationships between local businesses and charitable organisations in the London Borough of Bromley. Instead of financial support, businesses are encouraged to help in other ways such as volunteering and offering specialist advice.

This year’s event follows a successful inaugural event last March, which saw over 25 voluntary organisations and over 40 business representatives get together to explore ways of working together. Business participants were surprised to learn that it that it is not ‘all about the money’ and that the benefits are two-way, with lots of different ways that voluntary organisations and businesses can work together for mutual benefit.
