Thousands attend Beckenham Christmas Spectacular

Over 2,000 people attended the Beckenham Christmas Spectacular on Saturday.

Saturday afternoon saw Beckenham buzz with activity with a variety of stalls, and entertainment on Beckenham Green. A fabulous Candlelit procession (organised by Copers Cope Area Resident’s Association Chair Chloe–Jane Ross and Marsha Berg) of approximately 250 people lead by The Jazz Trio, which wove its way along Beckenham High Street from Beckenham’s oldest pub The George, to the oldest church – St George’s.

The Christmas tree and lights, donated by Copers Cope Area Resident’s Association, was turned on by Deputy Mayor Cllr Ian Payne, with Col Bob Stewart DSO Beckenham MP and Patron of Beckenham Business Association, Churchill Theatre Peter Pan Panto Stars – Andrew Agnew (playing Smee ) and Gemma Hunt (playing Tinker Bell).

The fabulous line-up included – The Spanish Choir from Harris Academy, the Dance Company Studios, Kent Academy of Performing Arts whose event “A Night Before Christmas” with proceeds to The Breast of Bromley (in aid of Breast Cancer Campaign) takes place on 16 December at Beckenham Public Halls, the fabulous singer Fil Straughton, Pearly King of Bow Bells, Cheapside and Blackfriars and Pearly Queen Mum of Hackney, Father Christmas and Nanny Christmas, Gems Cheerleaders, St George’s Choir and TS Hood Sea Cadets.

A great community event organised by Beckenham Town Centre Manager Tina Slater, Candlelit Procession organised by Copers Cope Area Resident’s Association, supported by the Beckenham Business Association.
